EVERY TICKET CHANGES A LIFE

They're there when you need them...
now it's your turn to be there for them.
BC’s Hometown Heroes come to the aid of people in life-threatening situations
every day. From rescue to recovery, BC’s front line workers and first responders –
our fire fighters, along with the doctors, nurses and health care teams at Vancouver
General Hospital – are always on duty for critically ill and severely injured British
Columbians. When you need help, these heroes respond.

Your Hometown Heroes Lottery ticket purchases support VGH & UBC Hospital
Foundation, raising essential funds for specialized adult health services and
research at VGH and UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, Vancouver Coastal
Health Research Institute and Vancouver Community Health Services for all
British Columbians. Ticket purchases also support programs of the BC Professional
Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, including burn survivor support services and resiliency
programs for fire fighters.
Thank you for purchasing your
Hometown Heroes Lottery tickets.

VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation: Every year, VGH performs more than 30,000 surgeries and treats more than 600,000 patient visits. We treat 60% of British Columbia’s adult trauma cases – and 50% of our surgical patients are from outside Vancouver. Foundation fundraising serves the Vancouver Coastal Health system, which sees over 94,000 emergency room visits each year and provides 158,000 home support hours every month. We are committed to transforming health care to put us within reach of tomorrow’s treatments and cures. Join us in making real change.

Most Urgent Needs at Vancouver Coastal Health: If you or a loved one is sick, you want to know you are receiving the best treatment possible. This requires world-class health care teams to be equipped with the latest tools and technology, supported by our Most Urgent Needs fund. This flexible fund deploys support where it’s most needed, empowering our partners to identify the cutting-edge research and equipment that will have the most immediate impact on patient care.

BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund: A registered charity established in 1978 by the BC Professional Fire Fighters Association, the Burn Fund is dedicated to supporting burn survivors through their recovery journeys. From enhancing survivor care at BC’s trauma hospitals to providing emotional support for survivors of all ages, the Burn Fund is there.

More than 4,000 professional fire fighters from 53 communities in BC and the Yukon champion the Burn Fund’s vision. They dedicate their time and skills to support burn survivors and increase the public’s knowledge about fire and burn prevention. The Burn Fund supports these fire fighters through mental health and resilience-building programs, as well as through the Home Away Program. A home away from home located on the second floor of the Burn Fund Centre, the Home Away Program features eight suites with common amenities available to burn survivors and fire fighters while undergoing medical treatment in Vancouver.

Doctor

“Cancer surgery, organ transplants, hip and knee replacements and so much more: these medical needs didn’t pause when the pandemic hit. People from across BC count on the specialized care that our frontline heroes provide at VGH, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre. COVID-19 has brought many new challenges for our healthcare teams, but with support from British Columbians our researchers and medical teams, who treat patients from across B.C., have done a tremendous job looking after the patients in their care. Lotteries have provided funds to equip our world-class health care teams with the tools and technology they need to provide the best care possible. On behalf of the Foundation, thank you to everyone who supports the Hometown Heroes Lottery.”

Angela Chapman,
President and CEO,
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation

“Over the past year, all of our fundraising events were cancelled due to the pandemic. For this reason, funds raised by the Hometown Heroes Lottery are extremely important; they go towards our burn prevention programs, vital survivor services, and enhanced care for burn survivors. These programs and services help burn and trauma survivors recover both physically and emotionally. The Burn Fund can only do this because of the extreme generosity of British Columbians.”
